November 2023 These are promotional LIVE edits for Vertigo, the band involved with at present. Although the video is phone camera, the audio stems were recorded and mixed down to give a true representation - although not by GR, they're still pretty good - take a look! featuring: Your Love Alone Do I Love You Go Your Own Way Tears of a Clown When Smokey Sings The Chain and Sex On Fire |

Jan/Feb 2023 So, who writes music for the Hammond Organ these days? Duncan Lawson was farting about in the studio one day and said 'does that thing (Cubase) do a decent Hammond? We found a few different version, he recorded some bits and pieces and chord sequences, and I subsequently sorted them out, made good, and added all sorts of pops, whistles and other stuff. At this point I thought hmmm, I can do something with this, added drum programming, guitars, more bits and pieces, mixed and mastered, and here we have Rhapsody for Hammond. 021 - early 2022
I decided that I'd try a couple of traditional -ish Christmas tunes with the guitar taking the melody. I had so much fun recording the guitar edit below on 'I Don't Want To Talk About It' that I thought I it might be worth a shot, also on the basis that with a backing track I could play them live.....then I got the (spurious) idea that if I did half a dozen then maybe next christmas I could busk them for charity - that might be fun! so here are the first two, more to come hopefully during the year. I might even re-record the live performances wearing a big red suit and a white beard, who knows!.....
Please note, both of these pieces can be performed LIVE by booking Ghost Repeaters - Solo and Live!

August
Duncan Lawson asked me if I would consider assisting him to do a cover of 'something popular that's fairly recent', so we had a good look around and settled on a Taylor Swift song called 'Shake It Off', which we thought a lot of young-er people would recognise, partly because as well as being less than 10 years old it has had something like 3.1 Billion (yes, thats right, three point one BILLION views) on Youtube to date (Jan 2022) Astonishing.
The idea was to get the backing track down and then get a female voice in to do the vocals, so off we go. I did something fairly unusual in this instance, I locked in the timing (bpm) of the original track into our cover so they were both at the same speed and pitch. Having completed the track, we couldn't find a suitable voice locally to sing it for us. After scratching around for a bit and discarding Duncan singing the main female melody, he found the original, isolated Taylor Swift vocal track on the internet, so we dropped it in and hey presto!
Hope you like it, I present for you 'Taylor Swift and the Dirty Stopouts' with 'Shake It Off.' Enjoy!'
2021 March Them wot knows me knows I've been a fan of Glenn Hughes' music (who? - here) since his time in mk.3 Deep Purple alongside David Covernote, back in the 70's, so I thought it would be a good idea to show my respect and attempt one of his songs. This was originally written by Hughes and Marc Bonilla and the original is from the 'Addiction' album. It is slightly different, there aren't many can sing like Hughes or play like Bonilla, but hey, this is my shot. As an added bonus (!) there will be a Guitar edit along soon...... And here it is : Please note, this music can be performed LIVE by booking Ghost Repeaters - Solo and Live!, where the guitar will take the vocal melody. |
